The African Union Commission in collaboration with Save the Children organised the 3rd High Level Dialogue on Gender, education and protection of schools in humanitarian settings. The meeting was supported by the Department of Political Affairs, AUC, the Embassy of Norway in Addis Ababa and UNESCO-ICCBA.
From 12 to 13 February 2019, the Pan African University Council held a meeting aiming at taking stock of the progress made so far in terms of strategic development at the Pan African University and ensuring consistence and alignment with the 2019-2023 Strategic Plan.
The Second Edition of Innovating Education in Africa Expo, organised by the African Union Commission in collaboration with the Government of the Republic of Botswana and several key partner organisations was held from 20 - 22 August 2019 in Gaborone, Botswana. The opening session was presided over by His Honour, the Vice President of Botswana, H.E. Slumber Tsogwane. Welcome remarks were made by Honourable Bagalatia Arone, Minister of Basic Education of Botswana, and H.E. Prof. Sarah Anyang Agbor, Commissioner for Human Resources, Science and Technology of the African Union.

The Continental Education Strategy for Africa (CESA 16-25) clearly states that Early Childhood Education and Development (ECED) is the pillar for future learning and identifies it as the next frontier if Africa is to realize sustained quality education and training. CESA 16-25 identifies pre-primary education as a neglected sub-sector that deserves special attention. The CESA ECED cluster was therefore established to strengthen this critical sub-sector.
