Participation:
100 representatives are expected to participate in the conference from the AU Member States, including, in priority, Ministers of Education and Ministers of Finance. Representatives from other Ministries in Charge of Education, Youth and Skills Development; Women and Girls Education and Development; Departments of Education of the Regional Economic Communities; Education Policymakers and Stakeholders; Researchers, and Education Practitioners. Also expected to participate are representatives from international organisations and Education Partners; Thought Leaders from Africa and beyond, Civil society organisations; the Youth and Private sector stakeholders.
Format:
The Conference shall be in-person with interactive sessions to keynote speeches, panel discussions, workshops, and breakout sessions; and networking opportunities to facilitate collaboration among participants.
Expected Outcomes:
- A comprehensive status of implementation of AU member states decisions and commitments made in recent years to transform education in Africa including an action plan to address bottlenecks and acceleration actions in key areas to reduce out of school children (OOSC) and improve learning quality, such as curriculum reform, teacher development, digital integration, inclusive education, and reaching the most marginalized, emergency-and crisis affected children -- based on the review of the implementation of the AU Roadmap on Year of Education and Transforming Education Summit (TES).
- A compendium of good practices in terms of successful models and innovative solutions implemented in AU member states, to inspire and guide policy makers for effective transformation of education and skills systems.
- Strengthened partnerships and collaborations among African countries, regional bodies, and global partners to foster continuous dialogue, knowledge-sharing, and action to strengthen advocacy and drive educational transformation.
- Established consensus on strategies for sustainable financing of education in Africa. Beside strengthened domestic financing, this could include triggering the process for a new global fund for education in Africa, effective Private Sector Engagement to build support for education and skills development initiatives, and other innovative financing mechanisms for education.
